The Randomness...
Another totally unrelated post, but today I got a cat/kitten. I forget who it was out there in blog world that confirmed my cat would meet me at the door and be so happy to see me, lol, but I'll find out now won't I? I pick her up Saturday....need to do some cleaning, rearranging and getting my mind right (read - get used to having something to care for). She's coming at a perfect time, I had planned on getting a pet once I moved but I guess sooner is better than later. Her previous owner got her because she was lonely and had just gone through a break up and wanted something to love. Seriously...that is the story I was given. Since things didn't work out the way she planned she was going to put the cat out by the road...seriously again...that's what I was told and still am having trouble believing that. But, rather than have her go to the animal shelter and be yet another animal who may or may not make it out, I said yes. No name yet...I'm thinking Pepper, only because years ago I had a cat named Pepper and blackish, orangish, whitish, tabby. No one else like Pepper but there was something about her that I liked. So she became mine. She got killed months later in an unfortunate accident and I've always said I'd like to have another cat. So, I got my chance.

Houston, we have a problem...
Things were going along quite well until yesterday. Well, they're still going well, but there was a problem. I'd picked out my selections mid June. Somehow, the change order for my floors didn't get sent to the builder. I did what I was supposed to do, I stopped in the day after the upgrade was made so that I could sign the change order and the contract could be updated. I was told that they didn't any any info from the flooring folks and I would get a call. OK...cool, not even thinking that would be a problem had the appraisal done, went through underwriting and 3 months later finally received conditional approval. I went by the sales office earlier this past week and mentioned the flooring change. She said she would look into it. Went by again on Thursday and mentioned it again and my SR made some calls and they never received the change order from the flooring folks. Ooook, so she makes the change, asks me if I want to roll it into my loan or pay upfront but she would send the change to my loan officer. It never clicked that I would have to get lender approval because the sales price changed. Never...forgive me, I'm new at this. My loan officer responds that since the appraisal has already been done and it's been appraised at $X amount, I could possibly have to pay for another appraisal. What the what?!?! Still not even thinking I respond back to my SR that I would pay upfront for the changes. Dropped off my check today and my SR asks me why they did the appraisal prior to the property even being constructed. Seriously...do I even know the answer to that? Nope, it's just what BB&T does as part of their process. And she goes on to tell me that I shouldn't be responsible for an additional $450 for another appraisal (yay! we agree on something) because the bank had the appraisal done before the property was complete or even started and they technically they can't do that, etc....that I should reach out to my loan officer and nicely advise that I should have to pay this fee again. IDK whose fault this is...but it's not mine...either the flooring folks, Ryan homes, or BB&T is eating the cost of this additional appraisal. I did what I needed to do, I even followed up and here we are 3 months later and now this. I am the soft spoken, quiet type, so getting my point across to my LO is going to be tough...but something's gotta be done.

Possible groundbreaking...
I stopped by the community this afternoon during lunch to let my SR know that I had been approved for my loan. I sent her an email last Friday, but received no response. She's such a sweet lady, but I believe I will have to talk face to face with her rather than send an email, if I'd like a response.
While there I met one of my new neighbors who closed yesterday and is moving today. She was nice. Also had a chance to meet the PM. He said the building in front of mine would be breaking ground next week...nice, but can you tell me when my building is scheduled to break ground, lol. He said the week after. So, crossing my fingers that by the Oct 12 there will be some action.
Totally random & not house related at all...but my coworker is driving me NUTs popping her gum. How do you tell someone to either not pop their gum because it annoys the living daylights out of you?!?!

A few pics...
A few pics (a bit out of order) of the model townhome, what I saw day after work during a down pour, some things I spotted at Marshalls, and the first building finally completed. The pics I took during the rain and the subsequent standing water concern me and will be brought up during my pre-construction meeting.
I've been....
Approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (did I used enough exclamation points?) lol
I have been approved subject to the contruction of the property and final appraisal. Found out this afternoon. Wonderful news, thanking God for all his blessings!
Usually I work through lunch...today I decided head over to the community and take a look at the model house which is finally complete. It was so exciting! The model was perfect. It had some upgrades, like the 2ft extension, but instead of being overly glamourous it was more like a regular home which was great because I got to see what the choices I picked out for my bathroom would look like and it was 2 bedrooms instead of 3. I don't know if the 2 ft extension made the upstairs bedroom overly roomy or not, but there was so much space. I have pictures, but can't upload right now, will try to do so later.
I'm excited :)

It's been a while...
I seemed to have dropped off the face of the internet but I have been here and there lurking and admiring other folks homes and what not.
There is nothing to report on my end though, which is frustrating. BB&T asked for updated bank statements and paychecks on 24 August. It's been almost 3 weeks and I haven't heard anything good or not so good about loan approval. I am hoping to hear something by Friday. And I say Friday because I had hoped to close in November at the end of my apartment lease. The original bank documents had me closing 15 October which wouldn't have worked at all. So this isn't a bad thing, let's say the official approval comes this week, if the pre-construction meeting is next week (wishful thinking) construction could start by the end of September and there's still a possibility of closing and moving in by the end of November.
My visits to the community have gone from every other day (in the beginning aren't we all so anxious, just like kids in a candy store) to once every two weeks, if that. The first two buildings are almost finished. Not sure what else there left to be done, but a few weeks back before the locks were put on the doors I drove by on a Sunday and snuck a peek. Such an awesome feeling to go in and envision where I would put my things. And it was just like Goldilocks...not too big, not too small...but juuuuust right. :) The following Sunday I thought I'd go back and take pics. Yeah, not so fast because the doors were locked. But the good thing is that hopefully the model will be ready soon (I remember the SR saying the model was supposed to be completed by August...) and I can take pics with it all decorated and spiffy.
So I'll sign off now...frustrated but still faithful. Ya'll take care. :)
